There are several facilities at the Marine Barracks where Marines are able to get a great work out. With new standards for fitness as well as combat fitness testing throughout the Marine Corps, MCCS continuously upgrades the fitness centers and gear issue equipment so that the Marines can better prepare themselves for not only combat, but also to equip individuals with the knowledge of how to live a healthy lifestyle.

The 2 major fitness center locations at 8th & I are the Annex and Post 5 Fitness Facilities. Newly renovated Post 5 consists of state of the art cardio equipment as well as a large selection weight lifting and power lifting gear. Post 5 is also the location of our regulation size basketball gymnasium where our intramural basketball season and tournament takes place.

The Annex Fitness Facility is one of the newest facilities throughout the Marine Corps consisting of 2 Weight Lifting and Cardio Rooms, a large Group Exercise Studio, and our 100 Yard Synthetic Turf Athletic Field.

Massage Therapy

By appointment and there is a charge for massage therapy - $10 for 30 minutes and $20 for 60 minutes. We offer the following massage modalities:

To schedule appointment, contact Ms. Jamie Morris at (202) 433 - 2570 or morrisj@usmc-mccs.org.

Swedish Relaxation Massage

This foundational massage is a deeply relaxing and soothing full body massage, targeting common muscle tightness, and everyday stress that has accumulated in the body. It improves circulation and metabolic function and stimulates the release of anti-stress hormones.

Sports Massage

For the athlete, sports massage techniques are utilized at all stages: pre-event, post-event, during training and to expedite rehabilitation after injury. Sports massage improves circulation and metabolic function, allowing the body to recover more efficiently after event/training.

Myofascial Release Massage

This is a correcting and healing massage that works on the three dimensional weave of fascia (connective tissue). Injuries to the fascia can result from falls or accidents, inflammation, repetitive stress injuries and general stress. Slow, sustained massage techniques are used to soften and lengthen which help relieve pressure in the fascia. Myofascial release helps improve the natural shock absorbability to the body.

HydroMassage is an unattended massage system that delivers a powerful wave of water that spans the full length of the user’s body providing a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating massage.   It is used by chiropractors, physical therapists, and athletic trainers to help relieve pain temporarily and assist in muscle recovery for their clients.   Hydromassage only takes 15 minutes and you can enjoy the massage fully clothed and comfortable.  To schedule an appointment for the hydromassage, contact Jamie Morris at 202-433-2570 or e-mail at morrisj@usmc-mccs.org.
